Kai Hypen, NSMIF/s – Finland
At an early age, I took up birdwatching as one of my several hobbies. From the library, I borrowed all kinds of books about it. In one I learned how Yrjö Kokko took pictures of swans from a hide (published in 1950) and I was hooked…
My father bought me the first Asahi Pentax camera and I carried it on my long excursions. Soon I started to photograph plants and landscapes also. Later during my working career as an engineer, I didn’t find the time. Then I started nature photography again when my retirement was approaching.
Today I dedicate again all my spare time to creating pictures that get published or ranked in competitions. My work was awarded for example in the nature photo events NNPC (Norway) and Glanzlichter (Germany).
Merits and achievements: AFIAP, SKsLM and SVR are (badge of merit, Finland). Books published: Sipoonkorpi, luontokohdeopas, 2020.
